Don't miss the ZUMBA For Japan Event Saturday !
Zumba for Japan
Residents can join the latest fitness movement and help a nation in need at the same time during "Zumba for Japan," Saturday, April 9, at the Highland Community Center.
The event, 2 to 4 p.m., at 14224 Bel-Red Road, is open to all ages and fitness levels. Volunteer instructors will lead participants in Zumba, the Latin-inspired fitness program that blends international music with dance movements in a dance party atmosphere.
Make a suggested donation of $20 per person at the door. Participants are also encouraged to ask friends and family to donate. Donations will be collected in cash or checks payable to Peace Winds America, a Seattle organization raising money for Japanese disaster relief organizations.
The Zumba For Japan organizers have placed collection bins at each Bellevue community center (Highland, Crossroads, North Bellevue, Northwest Arts Center and South Bellevue) to collect new clothes, sizes 4T and up, and non-perishable food items, all of which 97.3 FM KIRO Radio's Ron & Don Show will deliver to the Bikou-en Orphanage in Japan.
The event is jointly sponsored by the Parks & Community Services Department and the Bellevue Sister Cities Association. Bellevue has a sister city, Yao, in Japan.
No pre-registration is necessary.
